Apparently, a few of that thriller concerned octopus tentacle.
Level guard Dennis Smith Jr., who was chosen No. 9 in June’s NBA draft by the Dallas Mavericks, stated the delicacy was prominently featured in a pre-draft dinner he had with Jackson and Knicks brass.
“We went out to some restaurant they usually had me eat some octopus, like an precise octopus tentacle,” Smith Jr. advised the New York Day by day Information’ Stefan Bondy. “First time ever. I wasn’t going to attempt it, truthfully. They type of put the strain on me to do it.”
The Knicks finally handed on Smith Jr. at No. eight within the draft, choosing Frenchman Frank Ntilikina as an alternative. That call has been criticized in some quarters, given Smith Jr.’s explosiveness and perceived NBA-readiness.
“I undoubtedly thought (the Knicks have been) potential,” Smith Jr. stated. “I flew in there, I had a terrific assembly with them. Then the draft got here and issues simply modified. However I am grateful for every thing that did occur.”
